Introducing the Double-Take® Reporting Center! The Double-Take Reporting Center (DTRC) offers customers a logical way to manage their data protection strategies and “Take-5” by using five key reporting capabilities. These include the ability to:

5. Decide what actions to take regarding a data protection strategy.

The Double-Take Reporting Center feature is now available at no additional charge for all existing Double-Take Software customers covered by product maintenance. If you are a customer and you’d like to download this feature visit our support site.

2 | Product News: Double-Take Server Recovery Option for Recovery Made Easy

When you choose Double-Take and the Double-Take Server Recovery Option (SRO) to provide real-time protection for your business critical data, you don’t just get the peace of mind of choosing the reliability of the leading product on the market, you also get choices. Double-Take® Software provides you with solutions for anything from real-time replication and restore to application high availability and whole server system-state protection and recovery. Which solution you deploy to protect each of your servers is your decision to make, but here are some ideas that may help you choose the best solutions for your protection needs.

Double-Take provides real-time, byte-level, asynchronous replication to quickly and efficiently protect your data over any distance to ensure minimal data loss in a disaster. Double-Take replication can be used for remote backup and restoration for both file and application data and it can be employed for centralized backup to eliminate tape backup at branch office locations. Double-Take replication can also be combined with failover capabilities to provide high availability for your data and your applications. The Application Manager feature of Double-Take (DTAM) makes configuring protection for applications quick and easy with pre-flight checks to ensure success and reduce the chance of human error. The flexibility that Double-Take provides makes it the right solution for protecting nearly any kind of Windows® data and application.

When you add the Double-Take Server Recovery Option to Double-Take, protection goes one step further, protecting not only data and applications but the system state of the server as well. Double-Take SRO extends real-time replication to capture key operating system files and configuration information that is used to recover an entire server including all data and applications. Double-Take SRO allows multiple servers to be protected by a single image server and provides near-bare metal recovery to the original server or to similar or different hardware requiring only the operating system be installed on the recovery server. There is no need to configure applications, hot fixes or service packs on the recovery server; Double-Take SRO protects and recovers everything in one recovery operation. Double-Take SRO is perfect for legacy systems with complex configurations or any server where you can’t afford to lose a single setting in recovery. Double-Take SRO also provides a turnkey solution for some of the more complex server configurations including Active Directory Domain Controllers. Unlike Double-Take failover solutions for high availability, Double-Take SRO is a whole server protection solution that quickly restores an entire server after failure. Recovery time will vary depending on the amount of data and bandwidth available.

In short, Double-Take and the Double-Take SRO provide protection for any Windows server with solutions for data replication and restore only, high availability, or whole server protection and recovery. Only the flexibility and features of Double Take and Double-Take SRO give you so many choices for protection of your business-critical data and applications.

3 | White Paper: Recoverability in Regulated Industries

Abstract:
If you are on the consumer side of the thousands of regulations imposed by the U.S. government, just knowing they exist probably gives you some peace of mind. However, if you are on the compliance side of these complex and ever-changing regulations, you know that staying compliant is a constant tug-of-war between resources and regulation. Acting responsibly on behalf of your consumers and ensuring that your company avoids fines brought on by noncompliance means staying on top of regulatory legislation. Using software products for data replication, application availability and system state protection from Double-Take Software can reduce the costs of managing a data protection strategy while increasing confidence that your systems remain compliant and your data and applications remain available.

4 | Upcoming Webinar: SQL Server Options for Recoverability

Date: August 22nd, 2007
Time: 11am EST-12pm EST
Speaker: Nicholas Schoonover, Senior Solutions Architect, Double-Take Software

Ask Yourself:

  • Native SQL protection methods not enough?
  • How long would it take your DBA to get SQL up and running if the server crashed? Less than 5 minutes?
  • How much data can you afford to lose?
  • What are SQL Server 2008 options?
  • Can you backup your SQL Server 24/7 without impacting production?
While SQL Server offers options for database protection and recovery, none of them is intended to provide a complete disaster recovery solution. In today's environment, corporate and regulatory mandates drive many of these requirements beyond what native SQL Server data protection options can provide. That’s why thousands of customers choose Double-Take to reduce complexity and improve up-time of their critical SQL Servers.

Join this webinar to discover a SQL Server protection strategy that can provide:

  • Real-time data protection capabilities for the entire SQL Server.
  • Extensive bandwidth management and recovery with patented data integrity regardless of distance.
  • Complete application protection and recovery.
  • Simplified recovery process that dramatically reduces the time and effort involved with SQL Server recovery to a single button-click.

8 | Our Technical Support Named Finalist in American Business Awards

We hope you never need to speak with our technical support team — but if you do, we want you to rest assured that you’re dealing with true professionals. “Our least experienced teammate is a systems administrator with more than 5 years of real-world experience,” says Todd Crowder, director of worldwide technical support. In fact, approximately 75% of our support tickets are closed by our level 1 engineers, which is well above the industry average.

Our organization provides 7/24/365 support worldwide and works extremely hard to keep on-hold queue times low and to ensure that the person who answers the telephone can resolve the caller’s issue. And, whether your company has a premium or enterprise support agreement, our support team will work to resolve your questions as quickly as possible so that you can get back to work protecting your data.

This year, the rumor that Double-Take Software has an excellent support organization was confirmed by an independent organization. In May, our technical support organization was named a finalist in the “Best Support Organization” category in The 2007 American Business Awards. Hailed as “the business world’s own Oscars” ( New York Post, April 27, 2005), the American Business Awards are the only national, all-encompassing awards program honoring great performances in business.

“Being named a Finalist in The American Business Awards is an important achievement,” said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of The Stevie Awards. “It means that independent business executives have agreed that the nominee is worthy of national recognition.”
